Welcome to Parkera, an application provided by Treffas AB, a company registered in Sweden (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data when you use the Parkera app (“App”). By using the App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Data We Collect

Parkera is designed to collect the minimum data needed to interpret parking signs and manage your account. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any other directly identifying personal information.

What we collect

• Anonymous identifiers. When you first launch Parkera, we assign your device an anonymous identifier through RevenueCat (used to manage subscriptions and credit packs) and receive a push notification token through Firebase Cloud Messaging (used to send parking reminders). These identifiers cannot be used to identify you personally.
• Parking-sign images. When you scan a sign, the image is sent to our secure server for analysis by OpenAI’s GPT-4 Vision and stored in an aggregated sign catalog that is not linked to your identifier. Images are retained for up to 12 months, after which they are deleted or further anonymized.
• Approximate location. When you scan a sign, your device’s approximate GPS location is sent with the image to help verify which parking zone the sign belongs to. We use coarse-grained location (the general area, not your precise position).
• Purchase history. When you purchase a subscription or credit pack, RevenueCat records the transaction and associates it with your anonymous identifier so we can grant you the correct entitlement.

What we do NOT collect

• Name, email, phone number, or any contact information
• Precise (street-level) GPS location
• Browsing or search history
• Contacts, photos outside the scan flow, or any personal content
• Apple’s Advertising Identifier (IDFA) or Google’s Advertising ID
• Crash diagnostics or performance metrics
• Any data for cross-application advertising or tracking

2. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, we rely on the following legal bases for processing your data:

• Performance of a contract. To provide the core parking-scan service and manage your subscription or credit pack, we process your anonymous identifiers, parking-sign images, and purchase history.
• Legitimate interest. To improve sign-recognition accuracy, we store anonymized sign images and OCR text in an aggregated catalog. This catalog does not contain any identifier linking back to you.
• Consent. Access to your device’s camera, photo library, location, and push notifications is requested only when needed and only with your explicit permission. You can revoke any of these at any time through your device settings.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the collected data for the following purposes:

• To provide the core functionality of the App, including processing parking sign images and returning a parking verdict.
• To improve AI recognition accuracy by using uploaded images (anonymized).
• To manage your subscriptions and credit balance.
• To process in-app purchases and subscriptions via RevenueCat.
• To send parking reminders via push notifications, when you opt in.
• To comply with legal obligations and prevent fraud or abuse.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. However, we use the following third-party services to operate the App:

Purchases and the App Store

Purchases made on iOS devices are processed by Apple through the App Store. Purchases made on Android devices are processed by Google through Google Play. RevenueCat synchronizes your purchase status across platforms. Apple and Google each retain transaction records according to their own privacy policies:

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Parkera does not use cookies, web beacons, pixel trackers, or any cross-application tracking technologies. We do not use Apple’s Advertising Identifier (IDFA) or Google’s Advertising ID.

For this reason, Parkera does not request permission through iOS’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt — because no such tracking occurs.

6. Data Storage & Retention

• Parking sign images are stored temporarily for up to 12 months and then automatically deleted.
• Anonymous identifiers are retained until you uninstall the App or reset them.
• Transaction and purchase history is retained as required by law and the respective app store policies.
• Data is primarily processed within the European Union (EU). Some data may be processed outside the EU by third-party providers (e.g., OpenAI, RevenueCat). These providers apply appropriate data protection safeguards.

7. User Rights (GDPR Compliance)

As a user in the EU, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

• Right to Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Right to Rectification — Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Right to Erasure — Request that we delete the data associated with your anonymous identifier.
• Right to Data Portability — Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Right to Object — You may contact us to object to specific uses of your data, where applicable.

8. Data Security

We take the security of your data seriously. Our measures include:

• All data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
• Firebase security rules restrict access to authorized users only.
• Parking sign images are processed server-side and not accessible publicly.
• We limit data access to authorized personnel only.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is intended for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. The latest version will always be available at getparkera.app/privacy. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We will notify users of significant changes via the App.

11. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Sweden. Any dispute arising from or related to this Privacy Policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Swedish courts, with Stockholm District Court as the court of first instance.
